About Leif Erikson Hall
Leif Erikson Hall is the heart of the Norwegian-American community in Ballard/Seattle,Washington. The building was completed in 1986 utilizing at least 12,000 hours of volunteer labor. The hall has served well in providing a home for the Norwegian community and the Ballard community at large. It provides space for community groups; men's and women's groups including a women’s chorus; adult and children’s folk dancing groups; AA meetings; language classes, genealogy research; groups meeting in the building provide scholarships and grants to young people; community cultural events where food, crafts, dancing and music may be enjoyed; and hosts an open house to escape the rain or sun during the Syttende Mai parade, held each year to celebrate Norwegian Constitution Day. It is a place to celebrate weddings, anniversaries and memorials. This building is an integral part of the lives of the Norwegian and Ballard community in Seattle.
