FULL DESCRIPTION

The stellar voices of bass-baritone Dashon Burton and soprano Maya Kherani join Stephen Stubbs and Pacific MusicWorks for a passionate and emotionally charged program of duets from Baroque opera and oratorio. From the dark lord Plutone and his captive Proserpina in Monteverdi’s Orfeo to Cupid and the Cold Genius from Purcell’s King Arthur and works by Handel and Steffani, experience the fireworks and drama of these timeless tales brought to life by these internationally-renowned singers and period instrument ensemble under the direction of GRAMMY-winning conductor and lutenist Stephen Stubbs.

Pacific MusicWorks is offering two opportunities to hear this powerful and unique program in welcoming, accessible venues with ample free parking available. In addition, a virtual option will also be available for purchase two weeks after the performances at http://pacificmusicworks.org.

Founded in 2009 by GRAMMY award winning lutenist and conductor Stephen Stubbs, Pacific MusicWorks inspires audiences with music and music theater worthy of the world stage, presenting fresh takes on beloved baroque masterpieces and joyfully exploring new and unknown works, with a growing emphasis on outreach to underserved and diverse communities throughout King County. PMW amplifies the voices of historically excluded populations through a commitment to employing artists of color and through ongoing research and presentation of works by women, composers of color, and members of the LGBTQ+ community from the 17th century to the present.
